PLANNING FOR YOUR DEPENDENTS FUTURE

A life of fulfillment extends through the paths you create for tomorrow. To find out more please contact the following local Special Needs Planner

MatLife's Center for Special Needs Planning helps you to take steps to provide lifetime quality care that your child or dependent with special needs requires.

Planning for the future of an individual with special needs requires in depth knowledge of the federal laws as they pertain to government benefit eligibility and legal documents such as special needs trusts and guardianships.  There are important financial considerations as well for providing not just lifetime care, but  quality of life.

For most of us, procrastination is a natural method of planning for our financial futures.  Nobody likes to hear the ticking clock that reminds us of our responsibilities to ourselves and our dependents.  That denial process begins when we are young as we prefer to not do our homework, but to play with our friends.  In college we learn the art of pulling the "all nighter" prior to exam day.  We begin our careers and are encouraged to begin setting aside retirement moneys, however it just seems inappropriate as we pay off our college debt and find better places to put our new found income.  Then we have kids and of course they cannot go without the things we weren't so lucky to have when we grew up.  And just as we begin to pay off our debts, we need to upgrade into that larger house in the better school district.  And the story goes on while we are challenged to provide equally to our children who either have or do not have emotional, physical, or mental disabilities.  In planning for the future of your child or dependent, remember that you are the primary expert, however, you may require some assistance on such things as financial and estate planning.

Though many of these issues can seem overwhelming, it is important you take the time with those experts today to provide you with the reassurance that you have done all you can to provide for yourselves while you are alive, and  additionally being comfortable in providing a legacy for your dependents that may continue on for generations.
